US Airways Dividend Miles Overview

US Airways has caught the ire of business travelers over the past year since they eliminated not only the 500 mile minimum for short flights, but all Elite status bonuses. Frequent flyers can complain all they want, but if you have a lot of business in Phoenix, Charlotte, or a small town in Pennsylvania, you will likely find yourself on a US Airways flight.

While the carrier has gotten a bit of a bad reputation because of the above frequent flyer program changes (and their policy of charging for absolutely everything on the plane, including soda), there are still reasons to enroll in Dividend Miles. Chiefly, all Elite program members get unlimited domestic (and Canadian and Caribbean) upgrades – plus an upgrade for their traveling companion.

That said, given the possibility that they will no longer be part of Star Alliance, plus their limited international network, combined with the fee-happy policies, business travelers who are not flying to a city where US Airways has a monopoly will likely be better off banking their frequent flyer miles elsewhere.
